Patients are referred to this clinic for specialized treatments of pulmonary hypertension. Both primary pulmonary hypertension and secondary pulmonary hypertension patients are seen in this clinic. Secondary pulmonary hypertension may be secondary to connective tissue diseases, HIV-AIDS, chronic recurrent thromboembolic diseases. These are just some of the cases that are seen in this clinic.

Patients may be referred to Columbia Heart Clinic physicians for cardiac catheterization as part of the work up of these patients. They may also be co-managed with the cardiologists. Catheterization and other further studies may be done either at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital or the Columbia Heart Clinic outpatient facilities.
